This private tour explores the best of West Iceland. The Snæfellsnes peninsula has some of Iceland’s best sights, with the beauty and mystique inspiring world famous novels, enchanting visitors every day. This is a one day trip that you will not forget. We start the day departing from Reykjavik on the ring road heading north. As we get closer to Snæfellsnes, we will start to notice a change in the scenery, with everything becoming more dramatic. We will start to pass through enormous lava fields, mountains that seem to rise from the ocean, charming fishing villages and endless bays and beaches. Included is a delicious lunch at one of our favourite local restaurants. This private tour was previously run as a small group tour but is now only available for private parties of up to 12. Seljalandsfoss is a waterfall in Iceland. Seljalandsfoss is located in the South Region in Iceland right by Route 1 and the road that leads to Þórsmörk Road 249. The waterfall drops 60 m and is part of the Seljalands River that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull. Stakkholtsgjá is what Lord of the Rings movies are made of. It has 100m-deep, ancient moss-covered walls and a dramatic twisting gorge with a hidden waterfall. Walk along the riverbed inside the canyon, when it splits in two veer left down a narrower canyon. Thórsmörk is a mountain ridge in Iceland that was named after the Norse god Thor. It is situated in the south of Iceland between the glaciers Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull. Not far from Seljalandsfoss, on the road to Þórsmörk (4WD required), hides one of the most thrilling and adventurous scrambles to a waterfall along a river and through an ancient moss-covered canyon.
